Mini Maglite Bulbs

Mini MagLite bulbs are designed to put bright light where you need it. Conventional light bulbs have been made with filaments that burn to produce light. LED, or light-emitting diode technology, has changed the nature of light bulbs. Components that conduct electricity and emit light last ten to fifteen times longer than regular filament bulbs.

These mini Maglite bulbs are filled with inert gas in order to maximize performance and the life of the bulb, usually either krypton or the more reliable xenon. Sometimes people may be put off from changing from filament to LED lights because LED lights have a higher initial cost.

However, consumers may not be aware of two significant hidden advantages: LED bulbs have no glass tubes to break and they are resistant to damage from both impact and vibration. Since mini Maglite bulbs are for use in active settings, such as hunting, fishing, and security, their sturdiness will allow for better value for consumers. Another energy-efficient feature of the LED lights is that it draws less on the flashlight batteries.

Longer-lasting batteries are also gentler on the environment, since fewer of them will accumulate as garbage. Mini Maglite bulbs will allow batteries to last longer, sometimes increasing battery life by hundreds of hours. In fact, the total lamp life is estimated at 100,000 hours. Mini Maglite bulbs do not produce much heat in their smaller sizes, but larger sizes do produce increased amount of heat.

A traditional bulb will produce 95% heat and 5% light, while an LED bulb produces the opposite, 95% light and 5% heat. If the bulbs are used in a flashlight with an aluminum body, the casing of the flashlight can act as a heat sink. On the other hand, an LED can maintain a more constant color temperature. This means that the light will remain a steady white and not turn yellow as the power weakens.

Mini Maglite bulbs have precision features that have been developed over a two-year period. It is important to note that although a manufacturer may rate an LED for a certain number hours, for half of the hours the light will be dim and require a battery change. However, when the mini Maglite bulbs are used with the corresponding Maglite instruments, the consumer benefits from light emission and reflector technology combined to provide the best lighting available.

Maglite flashlights were originally developed for law enforcement and government uses, but consumers turned to them for reliable and effective lighting. There are many types of mini Maglite bulbs, but the drop-in LED model of mini Maglite bulbs have garnered many positive reviews from consumers. A do-it-yourself modification of a flashlight to accommodate LED bulbs will require a widening of the reflector opening.

For this modification, a drill press is preferable, but an electric hand drill will perform adequately. The sum of all the advantages of the LED mini Maglite bulbs is that in addition to having superior lighting, the consumer will benefit from efficiency and value of bright and long-lasting bulbs.
